Vanderbeekers Series

The Vanderbeekers was a great series. This series is about a big family with five kids and three pets, Jesse, Isa, Oliver, Hyacinth, Laney, a cat, a bunny, and a dog. The five kids have big hearts and always want to help, “but as every well-intentioned plan goes comically awry,” the Vanderbeekers must find a way to change their landlord’s mind about not renewing their lease before it’s too late. My favorite character is Laney, the youngest one in the family. I like Laney because she loves giving hugs, like me. Laney is a little girl with a lot of love, and she has excellent people skills. I was not too fond of the series because every book mainly has the same plot but different situations. In each book, something happens, and the kids want to help. Then something goes wrong, and their plan is all tangled together. In the end, something always happens that saves the day. In conclusion, I thought that the Vanderbeekers of 141st Street was a great series. I would rate this series 4 out of 5 stars.

“And that is how you do Ring-fit professionally,” Eddie said.

I admit it looked pretty professional, but I was nowhere close to telling Eddie that.
“You think it’s professional too, don’t you?” He gave me a smile as sly as a fox. “No. I don’t.” I told him. “Also, don’t get me that face.”
“What face?” He asked as he gave me an even bigger smile.
“That face of yours…You know what? I’m leaving.”

I walked out of the living room, up the stairs, and went into the first room I saw as I walked in. I saw a bunk bed filled with stuffies. The room walls were pink, and a desk was tucked off to the side. I lay down on the bunk bed right before someone hollered, “Lana, come look at this.” My mom never hollered, so it couldn’t have been her. The only other person in the house was my brother, Eddie. I signed and went downstairs into the living room. But Eddie wasn’t there. I thought he was pulling another prank on me. So I said, “Come out, Eddie.” But nothing happened. There wasn’t even a rustling sound, and Eddie usually was very, and I mean VERY loud. One thing was confirmed, Eddie was gone.

Christmas Pig

Christmas Pig was a fantasy book by JK Rowling. This book is about a young boy named Jack. Jack has a toy pig named DP (Dur Pig). Jack loves DP. But one day Jack’s step-sister Holly throws DP out of the car window. Holly tries to make it up to him by buying Jack another toy pig ( the Christmas Pig) who takes Jack to the Land Of The Lost to find DP. My favorite character is Holly because after she made a mistake she tried everything to make Jack feel better, Holly really cared about Jack. In conclusion, I really liked this book and if you enjoy fantasy books then you should definitely read The Christmas Pig. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Keeper of the Lost Cities

Keeper of the Lost Cities was a fascinating series by Shannon Messenger. There are currently nine books in this series though Shannon Messenger has confirmed there will be a 10th book. This series circles around a girl named Sophie. She is an elf that was placed with humans. As the story continues, Sophie uncovers more of her elf powers, i.e., she is a telepath-someone who can read minds. My favorite character is Sophie because she is kind and makes a lot of friends. Another reason I like Sophie is that I can connect with her. Sophie has a sibling (like me), she also has a lot of friends (like me).

In conclusion, I thought Keeper of the Lost Cities was a remarkable series. If you like fantasy books or action books, you should definitely read Keeper of the Lost Cities. I rate this series 5 out of 5 stars.

Ever After High

Ever After High was an incredible trilogy by Shannon Hale. The stories occur in a boarding school called Ever After High. The main characters of the book are children of fairy tale legends. For example, one of the main characters, Apple White, is the daughter of Snow White. One of the reasons I like this series is that each of the characters is unique, and when chaos erupts, characters have to use their talents to save their friends, school, and lives. The only thing I despised was that the series ended with a cliffhanger.

In conclusion, I thought that Ever After High was a fantastic series. If you like fractured fairy tales, this series is perfect for you! I rate this series 4 out of 5 stars.

Ickabog

Ickabog is a fantastic book by JK Rowling. There are many twists and turns as the book follows a misunderstood beast named the Ickabog. As I read the book, tension grew, which kept me turning the pages. I like this book because there are a lot of minor problems. This was the kind of book that made me say, “Oh no!” And “What are you going to do now?” One of my favorite characters was a young girl named Daisy Dovetail. I like Daisy because she is the kindest person in the book; in fact, Daisy cares more about others than herself.

In conclusion, I thought Ickabog was an excellent book. If you enjoy books that build up tension until the final point of the story, books about different people in mysterious lands, books about learning the truth, then you should definitely read Ickabog. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Cocoa Land

Cocoa land is entirely made out of chocolate and cocoa beans. It is called the cocoa land. The currency for cocoa land is cocoa beans. The government is in charge of the cocoa bean plantation, and they hire soldiers from the soldier world to protect the cocoa bean plantation.

There are magical cocoa bean trees indoor and outdoor. When a cocoa bean falls, it goes through a tunnel and lands in the back of a truck. When the truck is filled, it takes the cocoa beans to the factory. From there, workers make them into chocolate bars and other shapes. The final products are then delivered to the house it is intended for.

For education, children will learn about chocolate so they can work at the factory when they grow up. When children take tests, they have to unwrap and eat a chocolate bar as fast as possible. For homework, they must eat a chocolate bar.

For healthcare, they will have many professional dentists because of cavities. They will also have doctors for injuries.

For transportation, they will take chocolate buses that are unmeltable and inedible.

For food, everything will be made with either dark or milk chocolate.

Businesses will be making, transferring, or protecting the chocolate.

Houses differ by type of chocolate. Most are made of invincible chocolate. For some top-security dwellings, bulletproof chocolate is used.

The law is that only the government is allowed to plant cocoa trees. Finally, this world is made for people to feel safe and happy.

Walk Two Moons

***This review contains spoilers. ***

Reviewed by Eddie and Lana

The book, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech was a fabulous book because the plots are intertwined. Both plots are around the main character, her name is Salamanca, Sal for short. The story is set in Bybanks, Kentucky. The genre seems like realistic fiction because it could really happen. The plot was a bit complicated in jumping from story to story. You should read this if you’re okay with sad endings.

When You Reach Me

Reviewed by Lana and Eddie

We actually give this book 4.5 stars. When You Reach Me was a great book because it’s unpredictable. It starts with the main character Miranda. Her mom is going to compete in the $20,000 pyramid. At first, she has a great friend, Sal but she made more friends along the way. The book is centered around time travel, but the reader doesn’t know this at first. If you want a better understanding, you should read A Wrinkle in Time first because there are references throughout the book. You should really read this book because it has great lessons.
